MBA Program: Curriculum: Management Specializations

MBA Specializations

Students have the opportunity to pursue either a general management program or complete a specialization as part of the MBA program. Specializations are an option not a requirement, and all students receive the same MBA regardless of whether they complete a specialization. Students should consider their career goals and professional development in deciding whether to complete a specialization. As a reminder, students must complete a series of electives outside of their specializations; please consult the most recent edition of the MBA Update for the actual policy regarding the distribution of electives.

Periodically, courses may be offered on an experimental basis (designated by a "697" course number). These courses may be eligible for credit toward a specialization and will always count toward elective functional area credit. If a course is not listed on this website, contact the College of Management Welcome Center in order to determine specialization and/or functional area distribution. Independent study and transfer credits will also count toward specialization and functional area electives. Again, students should contact the CM Welcome Center in order to have these credits assessed and credited appropriately.
