ACCOUNTING CONCENTRATION (ACC) Seven courses (21 credits)

Overview The concentration in accounting provides students with a broad understanding of both accounting theory and techniques in preparation for a full range of career opportunities in the private, public and non-profit sectors. The curriculum reflects the knowledge and skills necessary for professional success in this dynamic and critical area of business.

Career Paths Students who pursue the accounting concentration will be prepared to enter a variety of careers in both public and private accounting, including budget analyst, financial accountant, managerial accountant, taxation specialist, auditor, and more. Credits earned will go towards fulfilling the 150-hour requirement for the CPA exam.

The accounting concentration will take at least 3 semesters to complete once the first concentration course is taken, due to the sequential nature of the required courses (AF301, AF311, AF470).

Advising Notes The prerequisites for these courses are strictly enforced, so accounting concentrators should plan their schedules carefully and early. Accounting concentrators should check with the department chair before taking the internship course.
